DeepWiki is the documentation capability Cognition associates with its coding agent Devin. In Cognition’s description, when Devin onboards to a codebase it generates comprehensive, always-updating documentation with system diagrams, and DeepWiki is the name under which that documentation is offered. Cognition also presents it as a standalone way to try the agent: readers of its Devin’s 2025 Performance Review: Learnings From 18 Months of Agents At Work are invited to run DeepWiki on one of their own codebases to see Devin’s codebase understanding for themselves.

Capabilities

Cognition places DeepWiki under what it calls Devin’s “senior intelligence on demand” — the part of the agent’s work concerned with understanding large codebases rather than executing tickets. It states that DeepWiki works on large repositories and that customers have used it to generate documentation for five million lines of COBOL and for repositories of 500 GB. In the planning workflow the post describes, engineers read this documentation and then chat with Devin to understand the system before scoping work.

Adoption & Ecosystem

The adoption example Cognition gives is a bank that, it says, was able to move several engineering teams off a large documentation project and onto new feature development because Devin generated documentation across more than 400,000 repositories. That is the vendor’s report of a customer outcome.
