“Vibe Coding: Building Production-Grade Software With GenAI, Chat, Agents, and Beyond” is a book by Gene Kim and Steve Yegge, published by IT Revolution. In early May 2025 it was forthcoming, with its cover art already designed.

Its title and subtitle drew criticism from Simon Willison in Two publishers and three authors fail to understand what “vibe coding” means. Willison argues that the subtitle describes “exactly what vibe coding is not”: in his reading of Andrej Karpathy’s original description, Vibe Coding means generating code with AI without caring about the code produced, as a way to build throwaway projects, rather than building production-grade software.
